Lets talk about anxiety. An issue that many people are dealing with but there is not enough understanding about it.
Think you may have it? Let's take a look at the symptoms, there are many but here are just a few:
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Irregular heartbeat, beating too fast.
- Difficulty sleeping, insomnia
- Dry mouth
- Frequent urination
- Sweating (sweaty palms etc)
Anxiety also stops you from doing things that you want to do, you are just scared to do because you fear the worst. Instead of looking at how opportunities can benefit you, unreasonable fears get in the way.
For example I have this fear of driving places that I have never been before, or journeys that I have traveled but are long and complicated. The thought of leaving a job that I had been at for years for a new one was also a scary prospect, probably because I was worried about not enjoying it and regretting the decision. But isn't it better to try something new and realise you don't like it, than not try anything and spend your life wondering 'what if?' Hasn't it been said the things in life you regret are the things you never did? Or something to that effect.. :]
Above is a video of me talking about how I deal with anxiety in more detail. However the most important yet simple thing I can say is, to make your anxiety issue feel smaller and smaller you have to try new things that will scare you. If you play it safe and do nothing new you will feel anxious. If you take all the opportunities you can try lots of new things you will feel anxious, BUT you are feeling anxious because what you're doing is something that most people will be anxious about. Why spend your life feeling anxious about just getting up in the morning, going to the same job you know isn't getting you anywhere and coming home. When you could wake up feeling anxious about starting a new job full of great opportunities, coming home and feeling your anxiety start to fade because you achieved something. You didn't just achieve new opportunities within a new job, you achieved the best feeling of all. A sense of pride and happiness that you were able to combat your anxiety but just taking a risk. If the risk doesn't pay off at least you did it, and you can always get back out there and try again. Because life isn't an easy ride full of great decisions and first time success, you do have to work for it sometimes! Enough of the CHEESE.
The best thing to do is to not think about it. You start to think about it so distract yourself from it, over-thinking is an anxiety 'sufferers' worst enemy. So stop thinking and start doing. But PLEASE be sensible about it and don't start saying yes to everything.... :]
